WHAT IS
What IS SELF CAMP?
Indigo Brave has been working with teenagers since 1996. We have won a National Award for our work and have a proven track record in supporting teenagers to feel happier and reach their potential and specifically the SELF Camps have measurably improved their:
Well-Being
Mental Health
Peer Relationships
Family Relationships
and School Performance
Things are tough for teenagers right now and they are getting tougher. We all know that Social Media and added pressure at school has changed the teenage experience. Now we are also dealing with the negative effect that lockdown has had on many aspects of our lives, but teens are particularly vulnerable to disruptions to their ability to form and feel confident in their Social Interactions. Teenage years are about creating strong bonds outside their families, which can support them to eventually leave home as confident, resilient young adults.
The SELF camp is a fully interactive, fun and challenging experience, which can provide essential learning in Emotional Intelligence and Social Interaction abilities, which have been so lacking over the past few years. It is like doing a 'speed intensive' which will help to wire up some of the Neural Networks which may not have been able to develop normally these past few years.
The experiences the young woman and men will have during SELF Camp will change their outlook on life and their SELF!
It has also been proven to continue to work long after the camp according to a study done by external evaluators using Warwick University's Mental Health tracking tool.
Our female and male SELF camps are run separately throughout the summer months.
Activities may include:
Archery
Bushcraft skills
Campfire cooking
Axe skills
Nature walks
Yoga & meditatioon
Drama games
Sleeping under the stars
And lots of opportunities for fun, connection and self-discovery
The camp has been proven to develop skills in the following areas:
Managing anxiety effectively
Detoxing from Social Media
Healing from or avoiding Self Harm
Transforming negative body image
Successful communication with peers and adults
Self Awareness and Compassion
Well-being and mental health
Treat your daughter or son to a life enhancing, transformational experience in nature with no make up, no mirrors and no phones! (BUT, it might be best to keep that information to yourself till they are all signed up and ready to go.)
